GREAT WAR COMMANDER RWG 2020 TOURNAMENT RULES
A GREAT WAR COMMANDER tournament is organized during the Roma Wargame Gathering 2020. This tournament takes place on Saturday October 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The presence of the players on site is required from 9:30 a.m.
ARTICLE 1: REFEREE
Pascal is the tournament’s referee. He ensures the pairing of games (including the choice of side after auction), enforces the duration of the games, and takes note of the results.
Being the tournament referee, he answers questions about the rules and resolves any ambiguous points within these rules. Of course, players can give their opinion in such situations, which opinion will be taken into account. He also arbitrates possible misunderstandings between players, although he does not expect that there will be any since the participants will all be of good will.
Both for the organizational choices and for the rules, the word of the referee prevails.
ARTICLE 2: PARTICIPANTS
The tournament is open to all participants, regardless of level.
Participants are strongly recommended to pre-register. The improvisational talent of the organizers should nevertheless make it possible to welcome all kinds of last-minute registrants.
ARTICLE 3: GAMES
Players will need to show up with the Great War Commander box and the Great War Commander BEF whenever possible. Of course players without games can lay in the tournament as only one game is required for each players pairing!
ARTICLE 4: ROUNDS AND PLANNING
The tournament consists of 3 rounds, all on Saturday October 17:
Round 1: 10h00-12h00
Round 2: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Round 3: 3:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
Announcement of results before 6:00 p.m.
ARTICLE 5: CHOICE OF SIDES
Before starting a scenario each player can bet a number of VP for the side he wants to play (I bet for example 3VP for the German side I want to play, I indicate on a piece of paper: G3). In the event that both players bet for the same side, the highest bettor (having bet the highest number of VPs) will play this faction but the other player will then receive a number of bonus VPs equal to the winning bet. In the case of tie bets, a coin toss session will decide the winner of the bet, with the loser receiving the bonus VP anyway. In case the 2 players bet for different factions, no bonus VP is awarded and the players play the desired sides.
ARTICLE 6: CLASSIFICATION
The ranking of each round will be established by counting “advancement points” as follow:
Victorious player: +2
Victory points: 1 to 5> +1 / 6 to 9> +2 / 10 to 15> +3 / 16+> +4
Victory by Surrender: +1
To decide a possible tie at the end of the rounds, the referees will take into account the number of VPs in each match.
ARTICLE 7: ROUND EQUIPMENT
The pairings of the first round will be established by a draw.
The pairings of the following rounds will be established hierarchically (1st against 2nd, 3rd against 4th, etc ….) according to the scores obtained during the preceding games.
ARTICLE 8: LIST OF SCENARIOS
The first scenario played during this tournament will be GWC T1 (see attached).
Second and third scenarios played will be announced on the tournament’s day (depending on the number of players and the game boxes available)
Depending of the first two players desires and disponibility, a super final could take place on the Saturday night!
The referees will provide the scorecards.
